Tate, Trout, and Moosehead Creek Assessments (Siskiyou County, CA)

The Tate Creek project on US Forest Service property near McCloud, California was completed in summer of 2003. The incised gully formed by the capture of roadbed by the stream was filled and the stream placed back into former channels across the center of the meadow. The beaver dam system was left intact, but the risk of rapid degradation of the beaver ponds has been greatly reduced by elimination of the gully.

In addition to the filling of the incised roadbed, considerable work was done to erase the remnants of the old hatchery infrastructure, including dam removal and regrading of the floodplain in the upper reaches. While channel erosion has been noted in areas outside the project worksite, the treated reaches show no major adjustment after first two seasons of flow (winter 2003 - 2005).
