Sheepy Creek Restoration Design (Siskiyou County, CA)

A small spring-fed stream in the Klamath Basin, Sheepy Creek has seen a century of gradual bank recession due to grazing pressure. The project is designed to remove grazing and repair the bank damage by using natural revetment materials such as Juniper, fill from borrow ponds nearby, and sod mats from the surface of the pond sites to narrow the stream channel.

The Sheepy Creek project was completed as designed in August 2002. The over-widened spring channel was reduced in width to mimic prior conditions. The floodplain areas behind the juniper revetments were filled and covered with sod for stability.
